Decorating is going well!

We have had lots of participation with the last 2 decorating meetings and things are coming along quite nicely. I am posting to let you know that we will not be decorating tonight, Tuesday. We need to get more supplies together before we decorate again. We will be back at it Wednesday night at 6:30pm. Thanks to all those who came and helped decorate! The float is looking good!

Decorating and Tow rope

WE ARE IN THE DECORATING STAGE!!!

We will be decorating Monday through Thursday 6:30pm.

We will also be decorating during the day next week. We need to know what times work best for those who are interested, we can do before or after lunch. Let us know by commenting here or email map.byu@gmail.com

Does anyone have a white 30' tow rope? We're looking for one to use for the shoelace of the shoe. It will not be altered or damaged. Let us know ASAP. It would work perfectly!

We will be decorating Friday, April 29, @ 6:30pm. We will continue to email with dates and times of further decorating, some which might be during the day. We are aware that there are some who cannot come to decorate, but are willing to do things at home. We will email you with specific things we might need done and can be added to the float afterwards.

Construction Started/Updated April Calendar

Last night we had a quick meeting and we went over the best building days and times. We decided that Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm are going to work best and that's when Jon Nadeau, our building expert, is going to be there. However, if other days or nights work for you, that is fine too. You would just need to get the key from Jon. Email map.byu@gmail.com if you're interested in working different nights and times. When it comes time to decorate, days and times may change again. We are shooting to be done with construction by April 16th and then move into the decorating phase the following Monday, April 18th.

After discussing the calendar, Jon did a quick rundown of the float and the construction. A few of us got assignments and were able to get started. So far, so good, and we hope to keep moving along.

Thank you all for your participation! Lets keep it going!!

Final Blueprint

Here are the final blueprints for the float.

Thank you Jon!

We decided to go with the crayon box instead of a computer or white board. The crayon box will have 2 rows to seat 4-5 kids in each row, 8-10 kids total, dressed as crayons.

We also went with raising the shoe platform by 6 inches.

Items Needed

We added an "Items Needed" page where we will have a list of items that we will need for the float.  If there is something that you think we will need then please email map.byu@gmail.com or post a comment and we will add it to the list.  Also if you are willing to lend any of the items that are needed, please email to the same address or post a comment and we can organize the supplies.  To access the list just click on the tab marked "Items Needed" near the top of the blog.

Calendar

The Calendar is posted.
Just click on the tab that says "Calendar", near the top of the page, next to the "Home" tab.
Right now the calendar is tentative and vague until we make more arrangements and everyone is back from spring break. Once we figure out details, we will let you know! You are welcome to comment on here with days and times that work best for you to either help build or decorate. Thank you!

The Blueprint

Message from Jon:

Please ignore the colors. They are just used to signify each component.
The grey board in the front can be a computer screen, Promethean board, or chalkboard. Which? I tried a computer mouse instead of the blocks, but it looked odd with the shoe. It could replace the shoe. What does everyone think of the scale and flow of the elements? I could raise the blue center 6” to allow more of the shoe and blocks to show when riders are seated.
Please give your honest opinions, even if they are harsh. I will not take offense. Is it too big or small, complicated or simple, expensive or cheap … you get the idea? Now is the time to sort stuff out while it is still just a bunch of pixels.

Thanks for drawing those up Jon!

Life's Shinning Moments

This year's May Day Parade theme is Life's Shinning Moments. At the first 2 meeting we made committees and we pinned an idea for the float. We decided to narrow down Life's Shinning Moments and focus on the Shinning Moments in Kindergarten. Such as, learning to tie shoes, learning to read, and learning mathmatics.

Here are the committees:

Co-Chairs of Float Coordination: Matthew and Chelsea Perry
Treasurer: Rhonda Wince
Secretarty: Robin Werth
Building-
Designer: Jon Nadeau Crew: Bergers, Reynolds, Schafer, Farleys and anyone else willing to help
Decorating-
Co-chairs: Martins and Perrys Crew: Kynastons, Werths, Winces, Myers, Chandlers, Feils
Attire: Perrys

I know there are more who are willing to help, these are just a list from the 2 meetings we had. If you are willing to participate on any of these committees leave a comment here or email at map.byu@gmail.com

Also, Marc was able to get us a 30 ft. trailer and Robin was able to get us a building to construct the float. We will be building at the old Vanguard building on West First Street.

The EES Kindergarten Float Blog

Hello all,
We decided to set up this blog as a way to get all the information out for the Kindergarten Float. The purpose is to be able to share ideas and comments more easily and to have the needed information such as calendar items. It is our hope that in the successive years this blog will be able to facilitate the future planning committees and their Kindergartners.
This blog is a forum per se and comments will be visible for all. So feel free to share with all of us your opinions and suggestions in order to make this a success.

Blue Prints will be posted soon and calendar will be coming soon. Make sure you subscribe with your email address in the side bar so that you can get the updates. Thank you.
